Contemporary literally means "of our time" or "Belonging to the same period of time".

Branded TV stands can be more expensive – especially compared to the generic stands available. But top manufactures will be on the cutting edge of contemporary design, and could be of a higher quality then the cheaper alternatives.

When choosing your TV stand always make sure that it will match your room décor. A Contemporary design may look fantastic in the showroom/catalogue or website, but that high gloss black box may look out of place in your traditional farmhouse cottage.
